Safety Tips For Driving On Halloween

Comments Off

The streets of Harrisburg, Central Pennsylvania and the rest of the Commonwealth and Country will be filled the next few days and nights with children all enjoying Halloween as they dress as ghosts, witches, cartoon characters, etc. Usually kids are walking from house to house and, as drivers, we need to be extra cautious.

With this in mind, here are some driving safety tips for Halloween.

1. Do not use a cell phone, text while driving or other electronic device while driving on Halloween night. Do not do this anyway, but especially this time of year.

2. Be extra cautious at crosswalks, intersections and the side of the road.

3. Drive below the posted speed limit in residential areas during trick-or-treating hours.

4. Do not pass other vehicles that have already stopped in the roadway because they could be dropping off children or stopping for children.

5. Give you child a flashlight, glow stick or has reflective tape to make them more visible to cars.

6. Remind your child to walk on the sidewalk.

7. Try to have your child walk in a group.

What other driving safety tips do you have?
