The Lancaster New Era is reporting in its September 6, 2011 edition that alcohol is believed to be the cause of an accident on Labor Day which has resulted in at least three people being critically injured. According to police, Dan Ludwig, 42, of Lititz, was driving a 2001 Audi north on Route 72 when he traveled into oncoming traffic. After two other vehicles avoided his car, Ludwig crashed head-on into an Eagle Talon operated by a 17-year-old Manheim boy.
Police found beer cans in Ludwig’s car and alcohol is believed to be a major factor in causing the accident. Although no final determination can be made on the cause as of yet, this crash reminds us of the dangers, once again, of drinking and driving.
