On October 25, 2011 Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett signed into law legislation which imposes new safeguards for teenage drivers. The law known as "Lacey’s Law" includes new restrictions on the numbers of non-family passengers a driver under age 18 can carry and extends behind-the-wheel training for learner’s permits to include night and bad weather driving. The law also restricts the total number of young passengers teen drivers can take in their cars and changes seat belt requirements.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation reports show teenagers continue to have a disproportionately high number of crashes. For more on the new legislation go to the Patriot News link on pennlive below.
Now that Pennsylvania has strengthened its teen driving laws, what do you think about passing laws which reduce texting while driving?
