Harrisburg’s ABC TV-27 (WHTM) is reporting that, according to police reports, a man driving erratically in York Township on Octboer 11, 2011 (yesterday) crashed into a school bus filled with students. Acording to the police reports, Abimael Gonzalez of York, Pennsylvania was weaving in and out of his traffic lane around 6:54 a.m. He then drifted into the opposite traffic lane and hit a school bus headed for the Dallastown Area School District. Although eight students and the driver were on the bus, there are no initial reported injuries.
However, this incident reminds us all that the school year is upon us and all drivers need to be extra careful when operating a vehicle in or near a school zone or bus. Also, keep in mind that their are additional penalties for violating school bus zone and safety provisions of the Pennsylvania Motor Vehicle Code. The penalites include double fines, increased points and even losing your license.
