Police are investigating a fatal crash in Central Pennsylvania which occurred over the holiday weekend. Two people were killed when a tractor-trailer struck their vehicle on Interstate 78 in Berks County early on November 27, 2011. State police in Hamburg said Epifanio Cepeda and a passenger in his vehicle, Teosila Nunez De Cepeda were killed in an accident involving a tractor-trailer near mile marker 16.4 in Bethel Township, Berks County.

Police said Cepeda was driving east on I-78 when the accident happened at 4:03 a.m. A tractor-trailer driven by Charles Lorell Wenger, Harrisonburg, Va., struck the rear of Cepeda’s 1993 Toyota sedan. The sedan then traveled off of the roadway to the south onto the shoulder. Cepeda was pronounced dead at the scene, while Teosila Nunez De Cepeda was flown to Reading Hospital and Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead, police said.

Police said Wenger was not hurt.

The interstate was closed between exits 16 and 17 eastbound for several hours as police investigated the crash. If you have more information on the crash please call the Pennsylvania State Police.
